queensland shelly beach strikes

Took the boat out to dohles rocks on the weekend to have a go at some flatties around shelly beach. Around 7-8mtrs from the shore could't keep bait on the hook, soon as it hit the water big strike bait gone, this went on all morning everytime bout 7-8mtrs off shore any idea what this could have been, thought maybe big bream but unsure. I was catching allot of small whiting and bream and caught a 55cm flatties. Any ideas for some new techniques to atleast try and hook whatever it is out there.

Replace what ever bait you were using to baby octopus or fresh squid. They saty on a hell of alot longer. Or try using Sp's if they're attacting that eagerly

I was using prawn and then switched over to squid thinking the same thing but no good, might try sp's

if ur getting bait taking and no hook ups put on a smaller hooks or check ur hook for sharpness aswell try a few plastics for the flattys next time the flattys love them

try a squid jig too the old ones you thread up a pilly
