Braid to braid

Okay well I have just tied my first ever braid to mono knot! I have never really tried it before (get someone else to do it :laugh: ), but now that I've tried it, it's surprisingly easy! I used this to help http://www.ausfish.com.au/knots/ (sorry to link to another site )

But is there a knot that does braid to braid? I have previously done a knot similar to a bimini twist on both sides then just looped them together, this has been good, but i get the feeling that if I hooked a good fish it would just cut through itself.

I dunno if there is any specific knot for braid-braid. But I would imagine just a uni-uni knot would work. They shouldn't cut into each other.

No but there is still like a small point in the line where there is a major amount of pressure (causeing it to possibly shear through eachother), compared to say the Albright for mono to braid where the load is spread out over a few milimeters of line.

it would be more likely to do that with heavy braid ive done uni knot line joiner from braid to braid and hasnt stuffed up or anything like that but its on 6lb and didnt cut through ands caught a fair few fish with it

ive had no probs with the uni knot for braid to braid or joining any line really..

But why would one need to join braid to braid?

ive only ever done it as a quick fix etc but it works to get you out of trouble

You might have 2 half spools. Shame to waste it

I would use a Blood to Blood knot. When using braid the blood knots tie really tight and sort of dig into each other. Very difficult to break.

Yeh exactly Angus, I have two good quality half spools that I am going to put on an old reel. Thanks for the advice guys! I did two uni's and pulled back on it and I can't break it so that's great!

I always join braid to braid. BUT I make sure it is outside the normal distance I would expect a fish to take the 1st run. Like Maxi, I use the Uni knot.

u can also go braid to braid if something happened to your line and dont wont to waste a fair bit just tie it back together
