Had a nice morning exploring the new public access area at NPD this morning on the kayak. Its a nice area until the wind shows its ugly face. Managed to land 43 bass with one 50cm and several close to it. I will be back for sure. I am keeping my lure choice a secret though.

So, the purple crazy deep is the photographic decoy 

Need to be at the gate when it opens to get a parking spot!!

Quite an open piece of water and very popular at present.

Definitely need to watch the wind.

People set marquees and spend the day there.

Shame about those who thing it's OK to swim and their dogs.

Yep, pretty much a free for all at present.

Young's Crossing has been fairly quiet over the weekend, maybe the crowd that set up at Youngs for the day have moved to the Forgan Cove!!

SEQwater needs to do more patrols on weekends.

ive been twice now for no fish. Trolled deep lures, threw spinnerbaits....

I really think i need in invest in a sounder

How much for a little yak one?

Start at 100 bucks but a decent one starts at 400

$100-150 would be sufficient for how id use it.

Make sure you get one with the depth shown, or otherwise you are still fishing blind.You need to know how deep the fish are sitting in the water column, so you can target them.

Do you have a recommendation?

I use a Lowrance chirp 5, mainly because I have used lowrance for years. But as I said if its just for the yak any sounder that shows the depth range is OK
