couple of questions

1. how deep approx does the channels leading to the pin get at peak of low tide?

2. my outboard does not have the tilt mechanisms for adjusting the prop height and if again if anyone could refer me to someone who can do this or where i could buy this setup (93' 30hp mariner)? and possibly cost. thank you for any replys.

Im pretty sure all motors have shallow water drive you just pull a lever and lift the motor. Im unsure of the channels around the Pin but they are usually deep enough because my uncle has had his 25ft'er through their and their is bigger boats their.

they do when their fitted with the setup but my boats an 82' 13ft tinny fitted with the newer engine and the previous owner fitted the engine without it so the prop can only lift about 30 degrees put it this way i cant go into water any deeper than 3ft, it sucks but a bloke at the boat ramp with the setup reckons their only about 40 odd bucks to buy second hand but im stuffed where to look

Mate even at dead low tide you will not hit bottom if you stay in the middle of the channel. Go 1 metre each side and you will hit. Keep it slow and your eyes pinned to the sounder then you'll be sweet.

I've seen 70's motors with shallow water drive, Im amazed why it doesnt have it.

3 foot sounds awfully deep. Most engines would not need more than 2 foot under the keel.

Have you got a long shaft motor on a short transom?

Purchase or aquire the relevant pages of a Beacon to Beacon. Stick the the channels and you will have no problem at all.

It does get shallow in places, but the marked channels are deep enough for 43' Betrams to get around, so you would be a long way off the bottom.
