I had to go to Brizzy today and while I was there I went to Cabbage Tree Creek at Sandgate with the yak to see what I could find in the way of fish. Answer ......nothing

Nothing in the form of fish anyway, however on the way there I found the coolest tree on the main road at sandgate. I did get some odd looks from locals as I took some pics. lol

The other thing or things I found were jelly fish in the hundreds, they were every were. I was even mincing them with my mirage drive (not the best thing I've felt whilst on the yak) and hitting them with the rudder.

I was soon back on the road toward home and leaving the madness behind me.

A stop at the bait and tackle store at Beewah to have a chat to Lee and look at some new gear was in order as I was glad to get off the road for a bit.

After our chat I was once again heading north to home until I passed the southern end of Ewan Madoc dam shinning in the late arvo sun, it was about then I rang my wife and told her I'd be home late for our anniversery (21 years together) because I was stopping at the dam for a fish. She took it well considering. :woohoo:

Well it would seem the fish gods reward the brave because after a few trolls past the main point without a touch I decided to try working the edges and this is the point where all hell broke loose. I had just cast my lure at the edge and started to peddle of when the rod almost pulled out of my hands, I turned to see the most spectacular leap I've ever seen. To my disbelief this was just the start to a heart stopping display as I was subjected to over a dozen launches each one as high and hard as the last in an attempt to shake the hooks. The whole time I'm consumed by thoughts of the hooks not holding because it's the lure I reclaimed from the Stanley river a few days ago and the the trebles are rusted (another job I didn't get around to) as well as the usual \"did I tie the knot rite?\" and \"I should have looked at the leader better\"

Well it seams all that panic was for nothing  after quite a few very hard runs and a lot of tail beating against the leader I finally boated my first TOGA :P:woohoo: he was 57cm

They are a great looking fish, I can't believe how hard it went compared to bass.

It was a perfect arvo to be on the water, and I almost had a second fish on a popper as well but I buggered that up by letting the line go slack for a second and thats all it took, I think it was a bass as it went strait for the bottom.

What a way to end a day. I even maid it home in time for dinner.
