BRC - watch your boat speed

quick heads up for all BRC boat competitors (all all boat traffic in the river). There is a 6 knot zone for about 500m either side of the Gateway Bridge at present due to the construction of the second bridge. This is being enforced by the water police as I found out about a month ago. I did not see the second marker and fortunately I was let off with a warning!!!

Keep it to 6 knots or less around the bridge and everyone will be right.

How slow does 6knots seem:S It feels like half an hour when going down through that bit :pinch:

Especially when it's pooring down with rain, as it was the last time I went there:blink:

Cowfish13, It's marked with yellow boys on the LHS (Portside) as you head downriver. A bit hard to pickup at night when heading back upriver too. I don't know if it's a km, but it feels like 5:S

Thanks for the heads up Jeremy, wondered if that was still applicable. While we're on the subject, they're all over the whole safety issue like no-ones business, so make sure you've got what you need on board in terms of life jackets, oars, etc.

Might have to fish down there during the classic, the jet ski lice were in plague proportions last year, and with their exemption from all laws and rules, were having a field day.

Might even mean less of them at the Comslie ramp!
