Misc fish question??

hey i was just thinking and came accros this situation.

if you catch a 70cm plus flathead since you have to release it does that mean you couldnt weigh it in.

and before you say it yes i know its unlikely but just curious is all

States in the rules mate that fish to be weighed must be in the DPI rules. Thus a legal fish. 70cm+ flathead = not legal;)

I think a similar question came up a while ago. You can do live wiegh ins from what i remeber. But, keeping the fish alive, and healthy enough to be released would be hard. So really, any protected species, or size limits should be left out.

Not unlikely at all.

This Question has been addressed in the FAQ's.

In short though, only fish of legal size may be weighed in. An oversize flathead is of illegal size and thus cannot be weighed in.

Isn't the rule that the fish be released without harm as quickly and as near to capture point as possible.

I dont think the DPI would like you cruising round with a 70cm+ flathead in the live well, and I doubt they would accept the fact that you just want to weigh it in and then release it.
