queensland Offshore straddy/moreton

Hi all, it’s been months since I’ve been out offshore mainly due to weather and work not agreeing with each other. Next three days look pretty decent. Just wondering if any one has been out the front of south passage or up the cape since the flood? Just wondering what water quality is like in close offshore mite still be better to head wide

The swell seems to be dropping all week so I am heading out Friday. I can let you know after that. The water at Amity and even at Home Beach is still a bit stained with tannin but it seems most of the debris has gone.

Hopefully all three lol but maybe not with the price of fuel gonna go tomorrow before the weekend crowds arrive

We were out off Caloundra this morning aND IT WAS STILL PRETTY DIRTY. wE COULD SEE WHERE IT CLEARED UP (sorry for CAPS LOCK) not too far out, so I'd say you'd be sweet. You can always go wider if you find it dirty anyway I guess.

Thanks guys I’ll see if I can rustle up a feed hopefully I don’t hit anything running across the bay might have to wait until first light until I leave the ramp which I’m not a fan of.

We went out yesterday. South passage was nearly a millpond. 

There is still fair bit of colour in the water and heaps of seagrass and seaweed. We didn't see any timber in the water at all. 

I was in the Pumicestone Passage on Thursday and it was still muddy as. we had about 30cm of vis so made finding the oyster reefs really hard. 

Friday saw us get heaps of slimies and we got 10 School Mackerel which was a surprise as we were chasing spotties. Delicious all the same . Home by 10am.  We also got a few small macktuna and bycatch was a few stripies. 

Time to get out there I'd say

Throw my 2 cents in on water quality - sandy strait is still a chocolate milkshake, both tides I found. So much vegetation/mangroves hard to throw a cast net south western side of Fraser. Inskip side slight hint of green still but almost crystal.

Yesterdays and todays rain isn't going to help much... I would love to go and chase some prawns. 

I also need this to clear up for Easter!

Sorry was a bit slack with the reporting didn’t really take many photos , fishing was pretty good, went and got some livies and anchored up at boat rock. Hooked two good Spanish floating livies out the back, but landed none. One bit through my wire trace( was only using 40lb single strand) and the other pulled hooks. Plenty of nice reefies made up for it though. Just had to get past the kingfish. Got some great Moses perch nice and fat, kept a smaller kingfish for the smoker,  decided to call it early and go check my pots. First two pots had none, third one had seven and last one had two. It was a petty about the Spanish but I Was pretty stoked to have nine sandies and some good reefies and be back at the ramp before midday. Not bad for a solo session.

Prawns are back in the southern bay usual haunts just look for boats. Not sure how long they will hang about
