Tailor at Pt Halloran

It was a good after work session on the tailor yesterday at Point Halloran. It is a very consistent spot to catch tailor and there is always plenty of room so need to fight with the crowds. As usual, the old skool techniques of Alvey's, mono, and pillies.

Looks like the sizes are getting better too, the photo lighting is giving it that greenback colour. Not sure if that was on purpose or a dodgy photographer at the helm

What's your favourite recipe for the Tailor? Good family dinner size there

They were a couple of nice fish and I had a few smaller ones as well. I smoke them or coat them in salt and vinegar chips which I put through the food processor to make them into crumbs. The kids love them that way.

Yep. In about a 1 metre of water. Where I fish at night is dry at low tide.

My webberQ can apparently be used for smoking things, so I'll have to give that a try.

Great fishing as usual, @Daryl McPhee. I like tailor cooked whole over a charcoal grill, or done in alfoil fish parcels. Just do a layer of thinly sliced tomato topped with a few basil leaves on each side.  Add a couple of drops of Tabasco, wrap up the fillets and cook for 2 to 3 minutes each side. Tasty.

Quality tailor there Daryl, well done. Assuming you don’t use a sinker in that depth of water?

Went for a look last night. High tide around 730pm. Fished from 645pm To 10pm.

hot bite was around 8pm to 9pm

managed 1 good tailor and 1 good bream

I usually do use a sinker at the exact spot where I got those fish as you get more bream without one. I will use anything up to a 5 Ball sinker to find the tailor or avoid things that aren't tailor.

Went to Teewah beach on Sunday for a family picnic and managed to wet a line for 3 x Tailor 40+cm on the pilchards.

Will be giving the smoke and salt a vinegar crumb a go each  and report back
