Penn now offering 10 year warranties on reels

For those who may be interested, just received an email from Penn saying that they are now offering 10 year warranties on all their reels purchased after July 1st 2022. Pity all mine were bought before that date!, but still, it is a good thing for those looking to buy a new one.

The market is getting tight, the big manufacturers are all rolling out 10 year warranties just to stay in the game.

Don’t forget to check the detail in the warranty. If it is like Shimano, you need make sure you don’t open the reel yourself and only have it serviced by an accredited service agent. Won’t cover wear and tear so if you fish hard and wear out your gears, you are not covered. Generally they only cover manufacturing defects which you would expect to show up pretty early in the reel’s life. Definitely not trying to put anyone off buying Penn reels - they are well made and tough, but just suggesting not to buy on the basis of the warranty only.

I suppose it will be no different to the Shimano or Okuma warranty with similar conditions.
