swing mooring for a cruiser??

Hi all,
I’m looking to buy a cruiser boat to take the family out and kids can fish off the back  - thinking around 28 foot maybe a mustang or Monterey or something 
. I’m on the wait list for blairgowrie marina for a berth, but wanted to know thoughts around using a swing mooring in blairgowrie (port Phillip bay) from say mid Nov to mid April, then dry storing through mid April to mid November. 
How would a boat like this handle a swing mooring just in the bay and not in the marina? Anyone doing anything similar?
