Monster PB Yellow Belly

I was soaking some bait today hoping for a cod but I was getting smashed by little red fin so I decided to flick a few lures. 

Got two nice little 35cm ones but I had to go pick up a boat trailer so I headed back to my gear and decided for a last couple of casts. 1st cast and right near the bank I got smashed, I was using a 6lb finesse rod and 6lb braid when something big hit my lure and started pealing off line. 

5min later I had it near the bank expecting to have a cod and up came the biggest yellow belly if hooked yet. 

It came in at 64cm and 9.4lbs,and absolute monster.

I would have let it go but it inhaled the lure into its gills. 

Just wolfed the whole thing in.

The biggest I've seen pulled out was 13.5lbs.

It's quietened down a lot now, they closed off the gates and are running the water through the turbines, they only open on the other side of the river. 

But there should be some good fishing over that side now as a, result. I will try over there on Monday arvo, or possibly tomorrow arvo. 

But I did manage one good 4lb yellow belly and a monster carp yesterday arvo.
