The new house..

Sat them all down the other day and stipulated that when they move in

we expect 2 eggs every day per chook. Well, someone needs to pay for

the assets don't they.😂Yeah, it's a bit flash.

They've been living in an upturned pig crate for the last 2 years as I never got

around to building their house till now.😃

You could stick that palace on Airbnb, @Angry51.  My mother-in-law’s neighbour keeps chooks. Any that are not laying get their ne is wrung. He makes a point of doing this in front of the other chooks cos he reckons they know why and it reminds them to keep those eggs coming.

I had a hen that started crowing... Let it go for a bit... But it signed a terminal agreement the morning it jumped onto my window sill, pecked on the window and started crowing... Transgender chooks don't last at my place...

yeah, we got one trans, doesn't crow but does the other

bits to the girl ones. Tried talking to her/him but not

getting through.😁 The one that rides in the ute thinks she owns the ute

and bosses the other ones who try to get in , utes got no door on drivers side,

fully air conditioned. Wonder what the poor people do for entertainment.😂

It's a dominance thing. Happens more if you don't keep a rooster with them. Also if you don't keep a rooster and they get a bit of age on them, damage to one ovary (through egg laying or infection etc) can lead to increased testosterone levels and the hen will begin the transgender process. Usually crowing and the comb will become more prominent. They even begin growing full spurs.

I don't want a rooster at my place. That's ok if you want to get into the work of breeding and selling and don't have close neighbors that might object.

I don't mind a light cackle to remind me of the first foragable light of day, but 2-3am blasted into my much needed slumber I find very uncharismatic given my circumstances....
