What cannot be eaten?

Basically all the obvious ones. Toadies, Porcupines fish, etc. Others like Stonefish can be eatin, but the spines are way too dangerous to risk it:lol:

Then there are Red Bass, Chinaman fish and some other reefies that are a cigatura risk.

But basically in estuary's, there are not too many things you can't eat. Have a check up on protected species and that should give you a good idea:)

Look on the DPI fisheries site

Also take into account the quality of the waterway that you catch fish in. remember it takes 5 years for a bream to become 23cm and the big ones can be over 30 years old. So whilst people say the River is clean enough to eat fish out of now ask yourself if you would want to eat something that was swimming round in there 20 years ago. Just specualtion though, fish move around and you could catch a fish in the cleanest waterway but it led the majority of it's life feeding on sewarage in a nearbye waterway. You can never really tell.

School mackerel from Hervey bay also are a high cigatura risk. When we used to stay at the caravan park at fingall we used to save all the toads that we caught for the caretaker.

He used to go around all the electric barbys in the park and chuck them on the barby and turn them on to cook the toads. All the feral cats and the rats used to come in and feast in them . Bingo no rats or cats. They wouldnt touch them raw but ate then cooked.

Cheers
