queensland Newstead Park 28th

Gday all

Several of us were at newstead park last night. Lots of bait was around including prawns and bait fish. Mick got his 1st ray and I got my 1st brissy river ray. Apparently there was a monster ray caught after I left.

Today

Got to newstead about midday. There was a few baitfish around mainly herring. I got my 2nd and 3rd brissy river rays. Not that big but they still give a great fight. The rig I was using is a 3way swivel with 10lb mainline, 30cm of line to the sinker (bottom swivel eye) and 40 cm of 20lb mono leader to a mustad penentrator hook size 4. On my 2nd rod I had my sp reel , it has 8lb braid but not much of it at all so during the fight I could see my spool.

What i love about that photo is the water colour!

Remembering everyone that its the river and after rain.

Would have thought it would have been murkier.

Good work Timbo those rays are great fun on light gear.

Yeh I thought it would be brown aswell but it was the clearest I've ever seen in the river. If there wasn't sharks in there I would have gone for a swim.
