Caught by yours truly on a 80lb handline , rob told me it was some sort of little cod that is realy common in those areas and a pest/bait stealer.. looked pretty cool tho and put up a great fight on the gear i was using o.O

Hard to tell, looks like a potato cod. Remember in NSW a lot of the cod species are no take. Dunno if this is is or not.

dunno what kind of cod it is..looks simular to the honey comb cod we get up home...but i do know its not a potato cod...

def not a wirrah they are all brown with no colours. they also look really spiny but their fins are all rubbery and the have a small mouth not like a cod but i am sticking to cod species like the mob

Yes it is a Wirrah cod also known as Eastern Wirrah,peppermint cod,meat wirrah and boot. I have caught many of them from the rocks.
