What Tinnie

Looking at getting a tinnie in the 4.2 -4.6m Range

Wanting a tiller steer, with 40ish

So many to choose from in the second hand market

Horizon Angler, Brooker Safari, Quintrex Dory/Hunter, Sea Jay Magnum, Stacer Sea Horse

I am looking for a pretty deep hull I can run off shore with on good days.

Any feed back welcome.

Pros and cons, ride, stability, dry or wet, build quality etc etc

I personally like the brooker 4.5 Seaman(Basic Tinnie Version), bloody awesome boat with side decks, anchorwell, transom step, Front and rear rails and full floor as standard.

i agree as well that brookers are built well, i would keep it at 4.5 so dont have to pay higher rego.

What sort of $$$ you looking at spending. I too was in that market a few years ago, and went to the boat show with $10K in the back pocket to buy a tinny with certain specs. I wanted comfortable seating, a bimini cover, electric start and tilt/trim. Apart from all that I was open to suggestions.

$16,500 later I have a runabout I am not 100% happy with.

It was $6500 more than I wanted to spend. You dont have the allround fishing room of a tinny. Apart from that I guess it serves its purpose.

But lets not hijack this thread.

Probably looking around the $6 -$8kish folding stuff

Seems with the high fuel price, interest rates etc people are looking to off load.

I am not to fussed if its 2 or 4 stroke and also not set on one particular make in hull or engine. Electic trim and tilt would be nice

U've probly seen them but i saw some probly 3-5years old in the trading post for that price.

IMO in a tinnie its not overly important, That would probably have hydraulic assist too make it easier to lift. Is their any reason why u need it?

just easier, trim the motor as required

Yeh i could see the advantages their. Could always fit an aftermarket system if u found the right setup at the right price.

ive always felt that the best tinnie is a cold one from the esky..

a mate of mine has the 4.5m brooker and he loves it. takes it to the 24's off the goldy quite often.
