Technique?

Recommended Posts

So i got a new g.loomis rod and nice little shimano reel.

Not many lures yet, I have mostly been using a green/mango sx40.

I have been doing fast/slow jerky retreives, slow, moderate, stop start, very slow...

Guys after realising there are many ways to retrive a lure, does anyone wnat to tell us what works best for them for what sort of fish and fishing environment..

regards Dan

ok,

your using bibbed lures mostly?

It will more or less swim at the same depth regardless of what you do, but as mentioned change the action, jerk's, long pulls, little jabs, let it float up a bit then start retrieve again, cast close, far, left right, close to bank so the lure goes parallel, etc etc.

Just keep mixing it up until you get success. Then once you get the fish in if your like me in all the excitement you forget what you were doing when you got the bite, and have to start over again!

The SX X40/48/60 works well trolled also, TerryH got a 96cm flatty trolling a SX40 from his yak a couple of months back and of late I have been having a bit of luck trolling the SX 60 from my yak on the flatty's bream cod and the odd tailor as well in the river.
