gang hooks

i have just been given a idear on gangs instead of using a 3 gang use 2 but with a swivel in between the too hooks it makes it easy to put bait on as the three gang gets caught or stuck in the other hooks has anybody used this method i know u get small pillies somtimes i thought this is idealfor small pillies, any other thoughts on this

I tried it last summer for bullies in the river, didn't get any sharks on that rig but did get plenty of pike eels and catties.

It does make things abit easier, the small pillies seem to stay on alot better.

Yep - only way to go with any gangs unless your targeting heavy species

yer thinking of going that way for Tailor with a sp about a meter above the pilly with little weight or none

That's a top idea mate, can be fun trying to push the 3 gangs into a pillie with numb fingers, no doubt this would make the job heaps easier!

Drop the swivel idea and just run 2 ganged hooks this works wonders on flathead. Better still just Snell up 2 hooks as many fish prefer less metal!!

yer im not a fan of putting a swivel in between gangs...maybe on the top hook to reduce line twist, but thats it for me....i only use gangs for talior..for snapper and others i just use a single hook with the old half hitch round the top of the bait( like dazza said, less metal)
