ay im just wondering what is the best to use when crabing dillys or crab pots and what structure should i be putting them around.

Dillys for sand crabs on sandy bottoms and Crab Pots for Mud Crabs on mud and off little inlets.

Also, if you want to leave them for a while, pots are better because they stop them getting out;) but if your gonna be checking them often, dillies work better as the crabs take a bit longer to get into the pots

Where to put them depends on the recent weather and tidal run.

If its rained recently in the middle of the channel, if been dry for a while, closer to the mangroves, but watch the tide, you dont catch to many crabs with your pots on a dry bank! Also remember boat motors go nearly a metre into the water, dont put the pots somewhere some poor bugger will foul them with their prop!

With Dillies be careful you make your rope long enough, otherwise they can float away as the tide comes in! (particularly if you favour 5 litre oil bottles as your float!)
