Competition Rules and Submission Format

AFO

Recommended Posts

Please find below a detailed overview of the rules and submission format for the Fish Of The Competition.

Each month there will be a certain type of fish nominated and the winner is the person to catch the largest fish of that species. You will see the species we have selected for each month on the site and the winners for each month.

To be eligible for the prize, you will need photographic proof taken on the day of the catch showing the whole fish (unaltered. i.e. without its throat slit, post scaling and gutting etc) next to a measuring device with easily read numerical incriments, as well as a photo of the angler with the fish (the angler must be clearly identifiable). You will be able to capture all of this in one photo generally but with some of the larger species you may need to take a couple, one showing the whole fish and one showing the angler with the fish, although in this shot the fish does not have to be shown in full (ie for large fish that are not taken out of the water)

A hand signal to be displayed in the photo may be required by the judges each month and will be nominated in the announcement thread. This hand signal should appear in the photo of the fish on the mat.

To be eligible for the prize, each entry must be submitted in the correct format with all required information provided (An example is outlined in the forum). Please submit ONLY entries in the forum category marked entries and use the other forum category to chat about the entries.

NOTE CHANGE OF COMPETITION TIMING:

The competition runs from the start of one month to the end of that month, with the winner being announced shortly afterwards the end of the month. The monthly winner will win a prize (differs each month and for each species) for the largest of the nominated species each month and is only eligible to be won by AFO members.

You will be able to view other entries that have been submitted for the monthly competition by viewing the forum, so you know what you have to aim to beat for that month.

Starting in July, each month the entries will go into the drawer for a lucky entry prize.

The nominated fish is set by the organisers and no changes will be made once a selection has been made. The choice of fish is not limited to freshwater or river systems, and may include reef and offshore species of fish, it encourages people to have a go at all types of fishing as well as let anglers specialising in certain types of fishing the chance when their favoured species is selected.

Good Luck
