the drag is 1kg less but apparently that it runs alot smoother than the cores drag.

is this true.

Mate I have no experience with either of these reels but have a look at Bass pro in the states the range of options is immence and a damm sight cheaper given the quality on offer AUS has a very limited amount of reels on offer

It saddens me to see this ford (diawa vrs shimano) holden read the specs on the reels on offer in the states mate and forget the salt water vrs fresh crap all reels treated with respect ie: washed after use will serve you well

Ive got the alphas r, handles big bass well and has landed me some 12lb murray cod, drag is smooth and it casts light stuff really well.

go the alphas!

Yeah having said all that do you really need a top end reel? Half that price will buy you a very good reel that would suit most applications. By all means if your a fishaholic who reckons you can use the 10% extra you get for double the money go for it, otherwise the price difference would buy a good rod to go with mid range reel.

yeah feral thats true but he already has a gl3 to suit the reel so i dont think he is too conscientious of price thus far

yeh what nathan said mate id rather go a high end baitcaster as ive already got a 8-14lb gl3 droppy. cheers
