Feral

Well tried those african night crawlers again, still worst bait I've ever used!

Alex got 1 10cm spangled perch at that was it.

However I did manage to catch my first ever fish on soft plastics, a respectable 34cm Bass, got hit just around the corner from the Maleny end boat ramp, got 1 bite, next cast got him. Only Bass all day.

Nice work Feral.

First fish on Sp's is always fun.

And cost effective once you perfect it.

Do you ever get sizable spangled perch?

Like big enough to eat.

Someone told me they can get to a little over 30cm.

But i have only ever seen the 15cm variety.

Angus.

If I could work out how to target the Mary River cod, I'd try a spangles as a lively for them, but as they are \"no take\" there does not seem to be much about catching them around (Although I think you can take them in Hinze).

It was a perfect day, the dam was like glass. Here is a pic.

And here is a pic of my daughter sharing my joy at catching the Bass. It was her rod she had tossed down in disgust about 15 mins earlier - I had rerigged it with the SP to try my luck!

She was most put out when I informed her that just because she owned the rod, it did not count as her fish when someone else caught something on it!
