Live bait collection in coomera/broadwater areas

Big hey to all,

I'm new to the site so forgive me if this topic is already posted all over the forums :silly:

I'm looking for some good land based areas to catch quality live bait. Specifically, mullet, gars or if possible yakkas or slimies. I have access to a cast net and can use it, plus I have the traditional bait traps which I bait with bread and tuna oil.

Coomera river/hope island river usually serves me pretty well for gar and mullet, but the last 6 months have seen only gars (that I have to catch by line...Fun But!).

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm happy to answer any questons you might have.

P.S... Live bait that I use generally ranges from 10-20cm. :laugh:

Hey bud welcome

The canals at Runaway bay hold decent livies, im not sure on slimies and yakkas the bait grounds off the seaway but it's not landbased.

Thanks for the info mate, where exactley in the canals but? I'm not too familiar with Raby Bay at all?
