a 45cm jack looks like a 50+ until you put it on a mat for measure! i have caught a 46-47cm jack before my 50 and i swore they were both over 50 til they hit the mat :laugh:

That made me laugh quite a bit Feral.

I also have a scruffy one, though i have never put it to use. caught it from the shed as well.

Will look at targetting jacks sometime but they seem to be rarer sorta like a thready was for me, so i will target fish i know are there for the moment.

Only small, 39cm, but felt good to get him from a freshwater river, up in the Kimberley (Sale River). The smaller one is what my brother caught as I landed mine haha. Been dusted by a few bigger ones down here though

Smidge over 9kg. Caught in 1991 on a reef offshore from Gladstone. 100lb handline, live herring bait. Still a struggle to land at age 6! I'll see if the photo will scan tonight.
