hays inlet??

hey guys,

Has anyone fished at hays inlet before? if so has anyone had any luck? I've been fishing the pine river for 15 yrs and for some reason i have never tried this area before. My dad never wanted to go up there because he said it was to shallow and didnt want his pride and joy stuck on a mud bank.

I drove past it today on my may to redcliffe and it looks like a beautiful spot to fish. it was very shallow but the tide was out, When the tide is up im sure there would be plenty of flatties on the banks.

I haven't fished it myself, but I have a mate who would confirm your suspicions about the flatties. We were only talking about it last week and he's heading up there again soon.

i might go up there this weekend, see what the tides r doing and go up at the high tide.

Mate i have been in there in a Tinny.

We got a lot of little bream and not much else.

This was back in the day when all used was frozen prawns from the servo Nothing wrong with that but id love to give it a crack with some lures. Looks like great Flathead country.

So many places to fish and so little time. I would love a good flattie session with the ocasional bream. Jot this place down as a future trip.

When is the flattie season - I think it's similar to bream but a bit later, is that right?

Brian, Is there a season for flatties? i seem to catch them all year round. Don't know if this is right but i read that summer is when they are most active then go quiet in winter. But i tend to catch the bigger ones in the cooler months down at the pin when im usually chasing bream.

I always seem to catch flatties whenever i fish.

However..

September seems to the time they are by far more numerous.

So as someone said actually, similar to bream but a little later.
