With school holidays coming fast, was just wondering if there is any other dams about that hold redclaw other than the 3 obvious dams, my misses younger brother wants to go clawing with his small boat he got for Xmas without getting in to crap from rangers for using it or getting run over by idiots on jet ski or ski boats..

Cheers in advance...James

What type of motor does he have on his boat?

Hinze leccy only and you need a permit. Closest place for permit is Go Fishing at Nerang. You need to leave them in overnight and they are not in big numbers .

Better choice is Wivenhoe which is leccy only. You can get permit from rangers on site.

Baroon pocket also leccy only

Lenthalls 4 stroke only and 6knot speed limit on dam.

Cheers

Ray

There's redclaw in kuwongbah I've seen em caught there.. I think its a load of crap that kids can't take there blow up boats out n have a little fun paddling around running a few redclaw pots, what harm would they be causing honestly?

If you do use your pots in Kurwongba, please do not use them in NPD or other waterways. Kurwongba has Cabomba (declared weed) and is not present in NPD. If it gets into NPD it will change the environment a lot. I also agree it is silly they do not allow non powered boating apart from the ski and canoe club.

got about 20 outta 2 pot thrown in right next to the eastern side boat ramp in about a metre of water, but in my experiences up there are far moreat the western boat ramp, with a 3hr soak i pull out around 30 just off in amongst the grassey edge. that was mid last year. haven't tried that side lately.
