Tournament Boat Rebiuld

Gday AFOers

A few of you with good memories might remember that I started a Tournament boat rebiuld out of a 1975 Savage speed boat around 6 months ago,well even though I ran out of money and the constant bloody rain delays,it is finished.

here are a few pics of the finished project,also if anyone is interested I will attach a link to a full run down of the rebuild.

Thinking of doing the same thing with a old 17ft haines did you do stringers and transom or were they good nick look like a great boat

apart from removing the anti foul and all the sanding,it was more brain strain than body strain.

at the moment I am getting 80kmh out of her at 5200 revs but due to a stuff up when i put the throtle cable back in I am down around 1000 revs,so when I fix that and put the bigger Raker racing prop on the eTec I should get around 90kmh.

i repaired a very small section of the floor but apart from that the transom and stringers were good enough,not perfect but still solid.

As for the 17ft Haines all I can say is take it on,if it is the 1700 or 17R it would make an awesome bay boat.

I have been thinking of doing a rebiuld for around 8 years but kept doubting my ability to pull it off,now I dont knopw why I was so worried,if I can do it anyone can,I'm about as handy as a lure with no hooks.

M8 thats hard but if I roughly added everything up apart from the boat/motor/trailer I recon as i said,roughly $2500 but thats everything (paint,400000 sanding disks,7000000 stainless screws etc etc etc etc)

Excellent result mate :woohoo: I'm reading a article at the moment where a guy has turned a haines 445R into a side console. Looks unreal. Bringing new life back into the classic old hulls is getting popular and cost effective now
