hi all

any site members based southside (rochedale) care to check out my air con unit at non outrageous prices. i think it is the remote or remote sensor that has gone as i can still use it on forced work mode. it is a kelvinator. call me on 0404719944.

yup I had a gecko crawl inside my panasonic AC and short it out, if this happens, check your insurance, you may be covered, I was as it is not vermin, and not a bird.

thanks guys, the remote started working again. i think i need a new one. geckos are making a home in there and i need to do a cleanout of it.

Hey Zim man, Im an aircon dude!

I have also just had a kelv doing the samething. You can buy a universal remote from Actrol at Moss st if that is the problem. Approx $50. The one I'm looking at has a stuffed receiver pcboard in the indoor unit (thats what picks up the signal from the remote)I got one today for $36. If you can turn it on via the manual switch on the indoor unit you know that the main pcboard is ok which is good cause they are a few hundred $.

Sometimes cockroaches can get in and poop in front of the spot that receives the signal and blocks the signal. just give it a clean.

To test the signal from the remote look at the remotes transmitter (little globe thingy) through a digital camera. when you press a button on the remote you should see a light through the camera. This tells you if the remote is working.
