Aluminium Rust (corrosion)

Heya Guys,

I am still find the off spot of rust on my aluminium boat. They are not bad spots nor deep.

When I find such spots, I sand right back, clean up with grease remover then prime and paint. Is this the best procedure for dealing with this situation?

Alloy boats do not rust but they do get electrolysis which is very bad.

This is caused from dissimilar metals so you need to find the cause of the issue and fix it.

You may have some steel screws in the boat somewhere or sinkers or brass swivels laying under the floor.

i was told you need to clean the area back then treat the area with alodine then prime this cleans the alloy or it may come back it can also be caused by a electrical current so check you wires etc
