Deep Vipers

Hey fellow fshers

I'm looking for some real deep diving lures for trolling Awoonga. Schultzy said something about 7m Vipers but I can't find them in the shops.

Any suggestions?

I wish I had some of them deep divers cod lures from Glenlyon. Kicking myself that I didn't buy em while I was there, but the missua was with me every time I went to the shop.:pinch:

Brian, check out BCF. I know they now have a range of Predatek lures, so they might have some of the vipers.

Failing that, you could get some of the Boomerang 80UD (They dive to about 8M I think it is)

Brian I have been getting a few rapala deep tail dancers td11 from usa on ebay price varies a bit between $15 and $25 for 2 landed in Australia. They have a nice wide action and decend to 30 feet. ( I have proved it )I recon they will be the ducks guts for barra and cod.THis seller only charges $4 for postage and they arrive within a week

Those deep Vipers are \"Hyper Vipers\" and actually go to 9m.

The only tackle shop I've been in for months is Fish n Bits in Toowoomba. They've got a wall full of Hyper Vipers. I'm sure if you give them a call they'll organise a mail order for you. 07 4636 6850 or fishnbits@hotmail.com

Dave & Chris are great people who have the best range of Aussie freshwater and barra lures around. Tell them Schultzy sent you.

No just dont know how to post the link just look up the item number in ebay. Dave from Toowoomba just rang back and said that they are sold out on the redhead and jabiru so I am on backorder for them expected delivery early September.

I didnt order from Mo as I couldnt line up some of the colours with thier product codes but if you are getting the lot it wont matter.

They are also sun sensitive if you leave them in a clear tackle tray in the sun they warp.

Brian how did you only buy the predateks when you had the whole catalogue to browse through? Wernt you tempted to get another black sheep or a loomis or two? Ha ha.

I'm on a budget Ray, saving for Awoonga and NT (different story). BTW the Black Sheep was \"almost\" a freebe, meaning I used the money I got from the sale of my little yammy.

Those standard Viper hooks are extra strong #2 VMC trebles, an extremely popular hook with barra anglers. Big barra can deform them and most other trebles if hooked in the wrong spot. Most of the damage done to trebles is usually a result of the fish thrashing in the landing net or at the hands of an over excited angler with a pair of pliers:unsure:

When fishing hot spots where giant barra lurk I sometimes use the X Vipers, they come armed with 2of size 2/0 4X VMC trebles. Very strong hooks indeed! Many anglers find a slightly reduced hookup rate occurs on smaller barra with the larger hooks and are happier with the standard set up of 3of size 2 trebles.

Don't panic Brian,

All three vipers, the original Viper, SandViper and the new deep Hyper Viper come in two variations. The standard model has clear polycarbonate bibs and three size 2 VMC trebles.

The heavy versions or X versions come with two size 2/0 VMC trebles and glow in the dark bibs made of a different plastic alloy (can't remember the name of it at the moment). These bibs are more impact resistant than any other bib on the market but will still abrade in contact with rocks, oysters, etc.

I prefer to use the standard set up most of the time, they hook more of the average sized fish and have a slightly better action than those with the larger hooks.

Three hook Hyper Vipers are H150,

Two hook heavy versions are H150X.

MO Tackle only stock the three hook models.
