queensland PB bream and got owned by a cod

So tonight i headed out with Bill (keen_as) to chase the jacks and trevs. Unfortunately they didnt come out to play. We arrived to our first spot and i start flicking my little flash j 3 inch around when i got a gut feeling to change to my atomic bream shad. 5 cast in and i hook up to which i thought was a small bream. This guy had next to no fight. Bill says do you need the net and i go nah just a baby. Then i got a look at him at the side of the boat and i quickly changed my mind. got my pb bream and my first fish on lures at night. measured in at 35.5cm (but stupid me moved my brag mat so the photo shows him as 34.5, but Bill has photos on his brag mat so i can prove no porkies were told.)

After about an hour of not getting even a hit i decided to try one of my ol faitfuls and went for the squidgie fish. about 10 min after making the change im getting hit constantly so i let the plastic dead stick and bang i was on. this one actually fought hard and after a couple of min i got him to the boat. another good bream at 32cm and my first on soft plastics. always got them on hardbodies but never sp's. got him on my little sienna 1000 and 1-3kg pelagics extreme outfit. this little outfit has some serious mojo for me haha

We started drifting out with the tide and Bill decides to change his lure. While hes doing this i persisted in peppering this one area as i kept saying to myself it has to hold a fish. and boy did it. this thing hit my plastic with such force. i got him close to the bock and then he took me straight under a snag. so after about 5 min of free spooling, getting line back, getting snagged again. i decided to give the fish a bit of the muscle. this didnt work well for me its huge head shakes just snapped my leader like it was a strand of hair the second i applied any pressure. i called if for a big cod at first but also could have been a big jewie. heres some photos. i look like poo as im sweaty and kinda look like a 70's porn star in olivia newton johns physical film clip.

cheers guys. was good to actually get onto bream for a change. i hadnt really done any estuary fishing for a bit so was good to see i was able to score a few. once again thanks heaps bill for the time out. always a good laugh when we get together for a sesh!

im stoked aye. couldnt believe it still wrapped about this weekends fishing. by far the best weekend ive had fishing ever
