woke up at 4am with the boat all packed only to find out the wind prediction had doubled, so opted for a morning throw at Pinkenba. Fished the rock wall between the boat ramp and the Wagners jetty for a few hours across the high tide. Got a few small whiting around the boat ramp, and some just undersize bream around the pylons. Also got 4 moses perch, one legal. All fish were caught on prawn. At one stage I tossed out a whole prawn (the big supermarket ones) and just before it hit the bottom the reel started screaming as the fish shot out toward the middle of the river. about 20 seconds later the line went slack and I reeled in bitten off leader. This was repeated with a whole baby squid. Don't know what they were, but no bite, just grab and run. Great morning anyway, lots of fun with very light tackle.

Nice one man. I wonder what those fish could have been as well running of with your bigger baits.

That are you were fishing is a good place to cut your teeth on artificials if you're inclined to try them. Bream sized lures work well.

I am very keen to give it a go, it seemed a great place to learn. Any advice on a good lure to start with? Might take a bigger outfit next week and try and see what the fish were.
