queensland On the Moonie

Headed out with a few mates on Saturday morning to a spot near St George on the Moonie River to bob for some yellowbelly. We have been here before a few times and always leave with a few fish and last time we were there the yellas were pretty thick and we got on to some good sized ones so i was pretty excited. Plus i got to try out my new swag. Any ways we fished all Saturday and half Sunday and while there werent as many yellas as last time (we also got plagued with the good ol moonie jew which fought pretty hard) it was a great weekend away with mates and it was good to do a bit of old school fishing out in the country. Also my swag was very warm and comfortable!

I also took a spinning rod to have a go with some spinnerbaits and plastics . Managed to get this nice yella on a Zman shrimp soft plastic very lightly weighted and worked nice and slowly around a snag we like to call the shooting gallery.

Sorry it didnt upload the first time but here was my plastic caught yellowbelly. Didnt get any photos of the ones caught bobbing as it was a competition and we threw them back straight away.

Yea my mates grandad has a permanent camp set up there which is really handy just chuck in the rods a swag and some tinned food and off we go!!

Nice work I miss it out there, whats the go with the surf rods? Many pigs ?

Theres a few good snags a couple metres off the bank and we can only reach them with the surf rods (no reel when bobbing just tie the line to the rod) didnt see any pigs but heard some dogs about n there was some water around
