ARC at Imbil

Spent the day at Imbil, got the call late in the week they were short of officials, could I go. Been a few years since I gave away officiating at rally's, my licences have all expired, but they said they didn't care, I could do a road closure, so I thought why not. Nothing like a pleasant day in the bush watching fast cars.

Early start, on station by 6am, last car through at 5pm. Had a great spot, right on top of the mountain. Just had to watch the helicopters flying sideways in front of the cars just above us as both crested the rise at 180kph! Was not all that warm, and the chopper didn't improve that all that much :S !

Just heard there has been a fatal incident, a navigator dead and driver evac'd to hospital. No more details on whom.

hollow feeling in the gut waiting to see if a mate has gone.
