Kingaroy trip

Hey guys

Ive been meaning to post this for a week but have been busy with work. i hadn't been for a fish in awhile (also because of work) so when a few of my mates wanted to hit up kingaroy to chase some bass and yella's on a weekend i had off, i jumped at it! i'd never caught a bass before so i was excited!

Headed off on Friday avo with my good mate Kiel to meet up with his uncle who lives in kingaroy and has been getting a few fish lately. Excitement was high with the plan to landbash a creek in the morning and then in the avo take the boat onto the Dam to a spot that has been firing.

Anyways the creek action was pretty hot with many small bass landed - i reckon 1 in 5 were legal - and they were also pretty skinny.

walking the banks

Once it started to heat up the yellas came out to play. We had quite a few follow the lure all the way to the surface, only to swim away very smugly.

After that we headed off tot he dam, with little success only about 4 bass in a few hours. langer reckons the wind was different today then when it had been firing.

Day 2 we headed to a different creek where we could get the boat in. The bass werent as hungry in this creek but were bigger and healthier. We only got 1 yella out of this creek and two silvers. Theres another hole further downstream that is supposed to hold some good yellas but we couldnt get there due to logjams - i think a yak trip is in order.

42cm silver

The standout lure were the stumpjumpers but spinnerbaits, plastics with beetlespins and a pink micro mullet also worked well. All in all it was a great weekend with some good fish landed and a new bass addict has been added to the list. I actually went up to the brissy river twice in the past week with no luck but also not many lures or time. Hooked!

Thanks for reading

Dave
