Hi there,

I am interested in starting kayak fishing and am interested in purchasing a second hand starter fishing kayak.

If anyone has one for sale, please let me know. Preferred Redcliffe, Scarborough, Sandgate, Margate areas, if possible.

Hi Charl and welcome to the site - for value you and setup you would be hard pressed to go past Freak Sports Kayaks (site sponsor) http://www.freaksports.com.au/product-category/kayaks/fishing-kayaks/?gclid=CIaeofGM-rsCFcUbpAodg30APg. They are well appointed and pretty good depending on your size. Than again if Dassa can use his then you can be pretty heavy and use them.

You will find it hard to find a second hand yak at that value with all the accessories.

Agree with the above.

I am bias as they are a site sponsor but I also own one and love it.

Takes me 5 minutes to get it off the car and set up as well and I can easily carry it myself.

Thanks for your comments. The Freaksports Torpedo looks very good. I have an offer of a second hand Viking Fisherman (with all the accessories and fish finder) at a bit less than the new Torpedo. Would you still go for the Torpedo?Thanks for your help and advise.

not familiar with the Torpedo however viking are great quality kayak, probably a bit higher quality than the freak yaks. If you can get one with a sounder and other items for less that is a great deal and worth snapping up.

The Viking Fisherman is a good strong and very stable kayak but it will weight ALOT more than the Freak will so bear that in mind. I own and use a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 which is a great all rounder but is more expensive than both of the above mentioned yaks. For the price I would get the Freak.
