This Sunday, September 7, at noon, ABC1’s Landline television show will air a report on the SSAA Farmers Assist program.

The report, organised by Farmer Assist Coordinator Matthew Godson, will hopefully capture the on-ground efforts and relationships developed by a SSAA member who signed up for the program.

Landline is watched by many in the rural community because of its focus on real rural issues, such as the impacts of pest and feral animals on agriculture and the environment. The show’s popularity is said to be based on its ability to explain and contextualise the issues affecting everyday Australians living and working in the bush to those living in the big cities.

As Farmer Assist has been designed to provide assistance to those living on the land from our members in or near cities, working with Landline seemed a perfect fit. And with the feedback received from the Landline crew who conducted the report out in the field, we are very hopeful of a story that will give farmers an incentive to jump on board and use our program to help them with pest animal issues. We also anticipate it being a powerful promotional tool as Farmer Assist continues its rollout across the country into the future.

If you’re unable to get away from Father’s Day lunch and sit yourself down in front of the TV this Sunday, never fear; ABC1 will repeat the episode on Monday, September 8 at 1pm and ABC News 24 will repeat it at midnight. We also expect it to be available to watch soon after on ABC iView or directly from the ABC Landline website
