queensland Quick question regarding shrimp traps

Hi Guys, I purchased a couple of those square shaped collapsible bait traps yesterday and was wondering what type of bait to use in hinze to try and catch some shrimp so i can take the old boy out for a fish. Also i see you using your own home made traps Ray, are there any advantages to using these?

Soap works well. Also Cat food.

Ray and I both use dry dog or cat food. Put them in a little plastic container with holes in them (smaller than the pellets obviously!)

Ray's home made ones last longer and are more redclaw proof!!

Thanks guys, i know there are red claw in hinze, do they destroy the fine mesh in the cheaper nets? Also, on my hinze dam fishing permit it says nets, pots or cages or prohibited, does any one know what the go is? It also says the use of freshwater shrimp is fine so i'm a little confused.

Water rats,and eels are the biggest destroyer of shrimp traps.

Please do not use soap.

I just bumped an old thread on how i make my pots. You mjay hyave to make some changes as the elastic tent rope and begonia saucers are no longer avail at k mart.
