I was looking at the e-mail that got the photos from this thread in: http://www.australianfishing.com.au/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=237&func=view&id=46189&catid=30&limit=20&limitstart=0 and I thought I’d post the third photo from the e-mail that I didn't post before.

I don’t know anything about the shot, other than the caption that said it was caught from the beach on the surf side of Moreton, caught with the rod + reel in the photo.

I had never heard of one being caught off the beach?

I think that I've heard of them taken off the beach before.

Still a great fish from where ever you catch it.

they dont mind the shallow water, ive caught a few within 1km of the beach, but theres been a feature to hold then.

and around the jetty at tangalooma theres a few big fish there my friend got spooled there and ive had a fish smash my slug 10m from jetty huge splash and few other big runs round there

I have seen a smaller one caught off the beach at stradbroke. And a yellowtail king as well. As macky said a feature helps. In both these straddy cases the feature was the headlands.

I hooked up to a 1 mtr plus cobe off the the end of SW rocks break wall had no gaff so with the aid of the missues (at the time )she guideing the line over the rocks while I made my way to the beach to try to surf it in but unfortunatly I made the surf the line didn't and snapped on the last set of rocks but yeah they do come in close :woohoo:
