Stanage June

Hey!

Heading to Stanage for 10 days from June 1. This is for a change from my annual 1770 migration.

Should be a very good trip. Lot's of preperation. Been working a lot of truck and boat for the trip. Longest diatance I've towed.

My goals are to make it to Percys and... A big and.... Swains, if weather is right.

And the crabs... Biggest ever!!

Stay tuned!

Big northern trips I always planned around September I have always found the winter months in nth Qld windy and hard to predict I hope you get lucky Julian it will be awesome to get out to those islands and reefs

These are the dates the ausfish/crab boys head up, so it is, what it is. :) Will have two boats with my crew, the Yalta and Cheechy's side console. Either way we'll be getting some good fishing/crabbing in!

Bought a new bimni off Lance last night. Provides shade from the end of my hard top to the stern of the boat. Perfect for those romantic fishing sessions we get in Tuggs!

Went out prospecting today. Wind is getting up tonight so doing a hopefully double overnight tomorrow, staying at Middle island.

Such a great place here.

Fishing was ok. Lot's of unstoppables, busting 100lb leader. Due to tides, can only launch and retrive at highs. Left at 10, home by 4 so only 3 hours fishing. Headed 30kms offshore.

Drunk modifications to eskys. Cut lids in half. Such a great idea.

Massive islands everywhere offshore.

Boat went the best it ever has, all the hard work paid off in the end.

That's it till Tuesday, hopefully I'll have a more fish filled report.

Just got back from 2 days. Went to Middle Island then over to High Peak the next day, then fished our way home.

So many islands 60/70kms offshore. Fishing bit quiet but we found a feed.

Sorry not many fish photos but the scenery has been amazing and our focus. Had an hour of power on the Reds. They different here. Had to use wire traces in the end to land em! Lots over 6. The ones we landed were all gut hooked, even on circles.

More tomorrow...

Those islands look awesome would give you plenty of protection to camp behind with fringing reefs for fishing

Thanks Tugger. They do give you some protection but it's not like 1770. There is no real fringing reefs to protect from swells. Also the depth is avg. 45 mtrs off the islands, so deep anchoring. I haven't found water under 20 mtrs out at the outter islands.

That is so cool. It reminded me that I have been up that way. We stayed on Marble Island for a week and caught some good fish.

So glad you got into the reds. Can't wait to see some photos. 🙂

How is the boat going? It looks fantastic.

Thanks Dropbear. Boat has been the best. Everything working 100%. Absolutely no issues. Solar panel keeps all batteries topped up and I didn't get the big voltage drop over night like normal after running the 1kw all day.

Dropped the pots in today. Creeks here are definitely a different sight. Very nice. Tomorrow we'll retrive and have a fish. An added bonus, I scored a cheap sat phone from the Stanage Community Assosication.

Few pics.
