queensland 3 over 40 !

After having an offshore charter trip off Fraser cancelled due to bad weather, @benno573 and I went for a whiting trip down the Pin area. We launched at 5.30 and the tide was perfect for pumping yabbies. Benno is much better at this than I, so I left him to pump while I gathered this time.

We did a quick troll for some flatties and Benno landed a legal one just over 41cm.

We tried about half a dozen spots during the day, with plenty of bream and stingrays annoying us, but one spot stood out with this elusive beauty - coming in at 41.5cm and thick - you couldn't get your hand all the way around it.

 

 

Other notable catches were a nice 50+ flattie on yabbie and a clutch of solid mid 30's whiting. So that's 3 over 40 for the day.

 

We've had more productive days but it was good nonetheless and we managed a feed and scratched the itch left over from missing the charter.

The right call by the skipper to pull the pin. all forecasts said 10-12kn N, woke up for the 430am departure only to have it blowing about a solid 25kn SE... logical part of brain knows it was the right call... every other part said many naughty words.

 

thanks to @ellicat for the day out, not the one we had in mind but a good catch up and a few feeds to boot.

@kmcrosby78 - need feeds for 2.5 these days mate, especially if whiting is involved!

Well angled lads. Made me wish I had said yes, but it was much more exciting pressure washing the neighbours paved areas, washing the fence, mowing the grass etc, etc.
