The wife took the carp I caught the other day by accident to work and they had it for staff dinner. 

It was such a hit she asked me to catch another, so I bought some worms and put a line into soak while I flicked a lure about and ended up hooking this 15lb monster. 

That should keep her happy.

In Queensland we're not allowed to keep them for any reason including consumption.

Here we can ear them, but you can't let them go, works for the wife and gives me another excuse to be late home, I'm doing it for her.

It really Ps me off that the 'regulators' can't work out a system for dealing with noxious fish.  I was at the fish dump at the Western end of Wyaralong lake a while ago (1,000 litre plastic bin) and it was two thirds full - some of those fish were absolutely huge, just rotting away in the sun (smell NOT good)...

I have heard that both Carp and Tilapia are poor eating due to the fact they are 'mudsuckers', but I read as long as you despatch them quickly with a knock to the head and then immediately drop them in an ice slurry, they're actually quite good eating.

Actually tilapia are one of the best eating fish and the most farmed freshwater fish in the world. 

I've got a pond full of them  at the in-laws place (relax its in Thailand so all good there) and there's other species in their too but the talipa are what people want to eat. 

They are similar to redfin only they grow faster and bigger, but the flesh is pretty much identical.

Few ways, they do one thing with vinegar sort of pickling them that dissolves the small bones, they deep fry them in a wok and the most popular is as a fish stew. 

They particularly like the head. 

Watch the iron chef carp episodes to see some interesting ways to cook them.

I Soaked a few worms today in the hope of a yellow belly but scored big on the carp again instead.
