Good fishing spots in Canberra

Hello All,

Starting a new thread as the previous one was specific to Molonglo River. I have been fishing on several spots in Canberra and wanted to gather all my fishing reports in one thread. For those of you who have not seen my fishing reports from Molonglo River, please view this thread first:

Here is a video report from a freezing Canberra winter day when I caught my biggest Yellow Belly so far at 51cm:

My biggest Murray Cod so far @ 80cm, landed in just 24 seconds! Have a look:

That's some good fish for around Canberra, it's often amazing what you can catch if you spend a little time exploring the area you live in. 

There can often be some great fish that don't get targeted by many people that don't put in the time to find them.

Thanks mate. After fishing actively in Canberra for several years, I am sure that Canberra offers World-class fishing.

Agree, like always one has to invest some time in finding good fishing spots and then exploring them thoroughly.

Awesome work Khalid! I'm still yet to crack a Murray Cod, just Yellowbelly and Redfin but I have only tried a few of the lakes from the shore and kayak so far. I'm trying to pick where on the Molonglo your videos are from and have a bit of an idea. Might have to plana hike to try and locate the.

I saw that in your other post and it was where I thought it looked like. Will have to hike down for a fish some time. Do you hike in from Uriarra Road side or from the Holt side?

Uriarra Road side when I am fishing at Molonglo River. The map below shows 5 parking spots in the area:

A friend of mine convinced me to try night fishing. We did and caught two good sized Murray Cod. See the video report below:

3 from 6 is a pretty good strike rate, I don't get that from stocked fishing parks. So pulling that of from a river is definitely an impressive run.

Shows how great this spot is. If I was fishing in one of the lakes in Canberra then this would be completely impossible.
