queensland Gibson Island?

hey, i was wondering if anyone has ever been fishing on this island near the Airport called Gibson island. There is like some wharfs on one side but the other seems fairly clear and there is a road right onto the island.

I have tried to fish it land based but i couldnt find a bigf enough opening to get a line out. i have fish aquarium passage which is flows beside gibson island.

Just saw this old topic pop up on the side and got me wondering if this was still an island in any form. Nope, looks like it is totally connected now

I wonder if it was ever an island. Probably was. I bet that site has an interesting history. I wonder how much stuff was dumped into the river over the years.
