grinners wat are they good for

does anyone hav any use for grinners i've tried them for bait but only as a last resort. it be good if someone was able to use them as fertiliser just like they did with carp.

I have heard they are good snapper bait.

I caught one of these in the gold coast seaway on the weekend ... actually I think it was a Varigated Lizardfish, man what a set of needle teeth. It was about 30cm long... I have a picture of it in my now soaking wet phone. :evil:

Grinners are the best fish out there for pissing you off. My first lure caught fish was a grinner and hey it's kind of ironic that they are called grinners seeming as I am always frowning when I catch one.

Also, if nothing else is biting and you see one on a sand bank it looks mad when come and smash your lure. Only when nothing else is biting hah

caught a 15kg spanish mackeral on a grinner, it was the only live bait i could get at the time.

my usual use for them is stick them head first in the mincer and turn them into berley:evil:

This is serious, Do you know if it is possible to by a mincer that will fit onto an alluminium hull. We need one for all the grinners we catch:) .

i was showing some fishing pics to my work mates and a indian lady noticed a pic of a grinner...she wants me to bring her a couple so she can make \"bombay duck\"..she reckons its a popular dish in india....il get her some next time im out at mud island and il give the dish a try but im not expecting it to be fantastic or nuttin:sick: ......speaking of grinners...once while chasing snapper @ mud island there were hoardes of the suckers....i once put a sour grub ( like thoses lolly snakes) on a jig head and got crap loads of em on them...it was sort of funny at the time...

When I was was a kid fishing with my Dad up north, we regularly used grinner to catch spaniards. It was awesome bait. We'd float them out live in the shipping channel or troll them with a skirt. Guess times have changed huh!

you can generaly pick them up 2nd hand at the markets for $15-$20

Just remember not to use it in a boat, only on shore. DPI may do you if they find you with minced fish.

Apparently if you can rig them up right they make really good troll baits for mackrel and tuna as some of the other guys have said. Bout a year ago we were catching heaps of them over the atificial reef at Moreton and we smacked one on the head to kill it and threw it back. Next thing a massive blue-fin tuna looking thing, smashed it about 2 meters from the boat! If only there was a hook in it!

as others have said. grinners are a great bait, whole or strip. the best use for them is for trolling as they hold together very well.

Gun mackerel bait.. The Mac love then trolled or as a dead bait or float as a live bait .. Also good on tuna
