queensland Popper session GC canals 21/6/08

Went down the goldy this morning plan was to get the popper out didnt get all that much i got a 60cm queenie a new pb taken on a gobo popper and i tailor going 49cm on the mat also took the gobo and got a few bream on vx not that many fish but still fun way to spend the morning [img size=500]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/gueenies_001_AFO.jpg

yeah i used to have success on queenies, with a fairly slow retrieve.

like bloop it once pause, bloop twice pause, bloop pause. etc etc.

what i found was queenies prefer a jerkier retrieve whereas trevs prefer one the is constantly moving with lots of bloops.

most fish were caught between 6 and 7

Good session mate. Didn't even know you still get queenies this far down the coast. Thought they liked slightly warmer water. Gives me another fish to add to the things to catch list.

Is it common to catch queenies on the gold coast?

I think that they're relatively common during summer, but I'm really surprised to see one this far into winter:blink:

hell yeah - they're all over the broadwater - north end of wavebreak is a world of good for them and even kings - back in the day we'de catch baby queenfish up the canal system as far as bond university in the ol cast net

well done! I'm yet to catch a fish on a surface lure. I'll have to spend some more time in appropriate locations to try and break that duck.

Im flat out catching anything on a lure let alone a surface popper.
