fishing mud/sand flats

ello ello,

most of my fishing involves a rock wall/jetty or a boat and a dropoff somewhere so far, and i'm interested in chucking some lures at flats for flatties etc.

I'm just wondering what kind of thing you look for when fishing something like the mudflats off luggage point, or sandflats around the fishermans island boat ramp, etc etc.

Is it just a walk up and down the bank casting at random directions affair, or should i be looking for darker water (what about night time?) etc?

Also, what could i expect off these flats other than flathead and rays?
