Woody point fish

Hey Guys,

Got this little guy down near Wood Point and not sure what he is. He got airbourne on the retreave which was a bit of a surprise and for such a small fish put up a pretty good fight.

you'll have to go back and get its mummy or daddy. Do you know how big it was at all?

Yeah thats the plan now - he would have been around 25cm - thats the general white buck lid he is on.

Sorry but its not a threaddy.

This fish has been ID'd several times and I still always forget the exact name.

Dont worry though as the person trying to ID it as well as a few others always think Threadfin Salmon as well due to shape and colour. Note the lack of actual threads though.

Smaller Threadfin still have those filliments.

there is definately bigger ones in that area i caught a 1m one at shornclffe jetty right near there a couple of weeks ago

ive caught a few in the net down at woody pt too,

was getting a heap of blue salmon in the net just after the rains too, would get atleast ten a day, but all around 10cm mark

Sorry to be harp on about this one but after surching the www the name "putty nose pearch' is often refered to as 'AKA threadfin salmon' Im just confused now are they the same thing cause I cant find a pic of this lille guy anywhere that gives it a definitave name?

A definitive name would be the one it is described as. Polydactylus plebeius
