all depends on what sort of current you usually sit in, i have 7m of 13mm gal chain for when i fish very high current areas in the bay and if i no i am going offshore i use my other chain which is 12m of 13mm gal chain. i also run a retrieval boy so their is no heavy puling up of rope. it really comes down to you as well, as chain is exy......the ration i have heard is 7:1 7m of rope 1m of chain, but i could ne wrong and 1 dont follow that either.

if you want cheap chain p.m me. it will be cheaper than bias and other places....

cheers kurt

For offshore i use the length of my boat as the rule of thumb for the chain length and around 13mm gauge as well as for an anchor u use a long shaft 10mm reefie and some guys add a bit of led inside but i have used a 12mm before and found it dificult with my boat to pop sometimes
